The mouth

At birth, lips can be too thin or lack fullness. With aging, the fine perioral wrinkles and flattening of the lips can appear.

The techniques

- For the projection of the mouth and to give volume to the lips : the preference is given to Gore Tex because its action is nearly permanent. Exceptionally well tolerated material by the body, Gore Tex is presented in the form of fine slats that are placed inside the lips in one, two or three thicknesses according to the desired mouth. There are no scars. The result is stable and natural. It is to be noted that, if the patient wishes it, one can proceed later to the removal of Gore Tex (fashion changes!).

- One can also use resorbable materials  with hyaluronic acid. These injections can be done at the surgeon’s office.

- To erase wrinkles of the lip, three techniques are employed :

  1. Dermabrasion : it allows to erase inequalities of the skin : it can sometimes leave a light hypopigmentation.
  2. Chemical peel : it is often realized in the framework of a total peeling.
  3. “Silk touch” CO2 laser.

  • Preoperative tests are required.
  • Hospitalization : day surgery.
  • Duration of the intervention : 1 hour.
  • Anesthesia : IV sedation (local anesthesia plus tranquilizers).
  • Postoperative period : healing in one week.

Problems related to an aging mouth may be resolved either alone or combined with a lifting.
