Aesthetic surgery of the face

The consultation

The surgeon studies respiratory and aesthetic deformations to be corrected. He valuates its psychological impact. Explanations are then given.

Precise full scale photographs and radiograms are taken. These elements will allow the establishment of a plan that will be discussed during a new consultation. It is indeed essential that a perfect agreement between the patient and the surgeon be established with regards to surgical plans. The objective of this surgery is to suppress defects, in order to improve the general balance of the face.

The technique

Several cases can be observed :

  1. Commonly, the nose is too developed in its totality : the intervention rectifies the often aquiline and large bony part, and refines the point by modelling of the cartilage. If necessary, septal correction will be realized at he same time, to allow a respiratory correction.
  2. Sometimes, only the tip of the nose is concerned : in this case, the dorsum will not be changed.
  3. There are also short noses, “saddled”, for which grafting is necessary : the graft is harvested either from the septum or from the ear.

The incision is made on the inside. There is no external scar, except in two circumstances : nose with too large a tip where the nasal wings have to be decreased, and an already operated nose which necessitates a small, practically invisible, external incision.
