Upper eyelids

This surgery is recommended to patients presenting a surplus of skin on the upper eyelids. The upper eyelid forms a fold which can extend down to the lashes. Furthermore, there often exists an internal fatty pocket forming an unpleasant bulge.

The technique

The skin surplus is removed in a very precise manner : measures are taken just before the surgery, thus the correction is perfect, the eyelid keeps all its suppleness and it preserves its natural look.

The medial and lateral fatty pockets are also suppressed. The scars are practically invisible : they are found in the natural crease situated at 1 cm above the eyelashes.

The operation of eyelids can be done alone or combined with another, especially a face lift.

Preoperative tests are required, including an ophthalmologic examination after the age of 45.

Hospitalization : surgery may be performed as an outpatient surgery or with 24 hour admission.
Duration of the intervention : 45 mn to one hour
Anesthesia : IV sedation (local anesthesia plus tranquilizers). General anesthesia is possible if the patient desires.
Sutures are removed on the fourth postoperative day at the surgeon’s office.
Postoperative period : wearing sunglasses is recommended for 8 to 10 days.
